New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Jessie Edgar Fleming, 96, who passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016, in New Iberia.
Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Mario Romero will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Fleming was born on June 14, 1919 to Alex and Laura Kleinpeter Edgar. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Andrew Emmer, and also as a cook for the Gingerbread House. Mrs. Fleming enjoyed reading, and cooking but most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Catherine Fleming Wattigny and husband Dean of New Iberia, Mary Beth Fleming Patout of New Iberia, Marian Fleming Killen and husband Pat of New Iberia, Richard J. "Buddy" Fleming, Jr. and wife Jolyn of Jeanerette; grandchildren, Michael Wattigny and wife Tiffany, David Wattigny, Leah Wattigny Bergeron and husband Roy, Eugene Alex Patout, III, Joseph Edgar Patout and wife Sherry, Peter Paul Patout and wife Patty, Lucy Killen Rodriguez and husband Adrian, Mary Louise Killen, Tommy Killen and wife Lindsay, Margaret Killen, Richard J. "Joey" Fleming, III and wife Nichole, Nicholas Jon Fleming; 9 great grandchildren and one due to arrive in October; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Amelia Edgar Rich.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
