Jessie “Jay” Paul Theriot, a man of many talents, passed away peacefully in his residence on May 2, 2023. He was born on April 3, 1943 in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana to Raymond Theriot Jr. and Esther Bergeron Theriot.
Theriot was an intelligent man who had a love for many things including music, fishing, technology and wood working. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1960, attended trade school and eventually went on to enlist in the United States Navy in 1963. He served in the Armed Forces for a total of seven years and was honorably discharged in 1970. Upon discharge, he excelled in his career demonstrating his intellect and highlighting the many skills he possessed.
Jessie was a quiet person, but had the gift of making others laugh with his witty personality. He was most comfortable staying home enjoying the things he loved most but forever touched the lives of anyone he crossed paths with. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family including his sister Barbara Brasseaux, brother Joseph Lavergne and his wife Peggy, his special friend who was like a son to him Willie Lafont, and his Godchild Chase Lafont, nieces, Wendy Gonsouin, Laurie Alfred, Kelly Louviere, and Melissa Adams; nephews, Shannon Brasseaux, Terry Lavergne and Marc Meche.
Theriot is preceded in death by his loving parents Raymond Jr. and Esther Theriot. He will forever be in our hearts and remembered for his kindness, many talents and hard working nature.
