Lydia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, July 18, 2011 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia for Jewel 'Jut' Dewey Palmer Jr., 85 who died Friday, July 15, 2011 in Lydia . Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by the New Iberia VFW Post 1982. Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. A native of Franklin and a resident of Lydia , Mr. Palmer was past Commander of the American Legion Lydia Post 365 from 1981-1983 and board member, also member of the VFW New Iberia Post, board member of the Morton Weeks Credit Union. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Linda Hebert Palmer of Lydia his brother Harrison 'Tony' Palmer, stepbrother Sandy Palmer of Jackson and Harry Palmer of Monterrey . His son Leslie Palmer and his Les son Shawn Palmer and Shawns wife Blanca and daughter Judith, and Leslies daughter Linda and her husband Nate Eby and Shawn and Lindas mother Judith Rushing. And Leslies wife Beverly and their sons, Parker Fowler, Steven Sparks and Luke Sparks. His son Gary A. Palmer Sr. of Thibodaux , LA wife Leslie L. Palmer, and their son Gary 'Tony' A.. Palmer Jr. And wife Michele, great grandson Gary 'Anthony' Palmer lll, grandson Michael J. Palmer and wife Lauren and future great granddaughter Ava Jewel Palmer. His Son Brad Thomas Palmer of Lafayette and wife Carol N. Palmer and stepson Bobby Nunez. He is preceeded in death by his Mother Alice Lalonde Palmer and Father Jewel D. Palmer Sr., brother Robert 'Bobby' Palmer, step mother Evelyn M. Palmer, stepbrothers, Clarence'Dickie' and Timothy. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Sunday.
