New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Jillian Zulema Garza, 28, who passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015, in Houston.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. William Blanda will be the Celebrant. Readers will be her aunts, Karen Badeaux, and Teri Badeaux Guidry. Gift bearers include her aunt, Renee Badeaux Poole, and her sisters, Julianne Garza DeSoto, and Jessica Garza McGarr.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
Jill was born in Shreveport, but grew up in New Iberia, attending North Lewis Elementary, Catholic High School of New Iberia, where she was a cheerleader, and graduating from St. Thomas More Catholic High School in Lafayette. She also attended LSU Eunice. A spirited soul, Jill suffered from mental illnesses during her teens and twenties, valiantly battling unimaginable demons. But the demons are quiet now, the battle is over, and she is at peace in the loving arms of God.
Surviving Jill are her mother and stepfather, Phyllis Badeaux Garza-Druilhet and Robert Emile Druilhet of New Iberia; her fiance, Jeremiah Cook of Houston; two brothers, Jeffrey Wayne Garza and wife Sarah Charlton of Severna Park, Maryland, and their children, Jillian Mae, Jacqueline Paige, and Joshua Jeffrey; Jonathan Ramiro Garza and companion Ann-Marie Williams of Raleigh, North Carolina; two sisters, Julianne Garza DeSoto and husband Joseph Martin of West Monroe, and their children, Jonathan Martin, Madeline Ann and Kenneth Emile; Jessica Garza McGarr and husband Charles Taylor of Gonzales, and their daughters, Elodie Anne and Katherine Reed; her maternal grandmother, Celina Pellerin Badeaux of New Iberia.
Predeceasing Jill are her father, Ramiro Chapa Garza; her maternal grandfather, Leonard Paul Badeaux; her paternal grandparents, Cristoval and Raphaela Garza, and an extra grandmother, Rose Glorioso Druilhert.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Garza, Jonathan Garza, Joseph DeSoto, Taylor McGarr, David White, and Robert Guidry.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews, Jillian Mae Garza, Jacqueline Paige Garza, Jonathan Martin DeSoto, Joshua Jeffrey Garza, Madeline Ann DeSoto, Kenneth Emile DeSoto, Elodie Anne McGarr, and Katherine Reed McGarr.
