Jim Ebel

New Iberia - Memorial services will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for James "Jim" Ebel, 82, who passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018, in Lafayette. Interment will be at a later date. Rev. Keith Landry will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A native of Port Sulphur, Jim was born on August 31, 1935 and was a resident of New Iberia for the last 29 years, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was a LSU 1957 mechanical engineering graduate. Jim had a very successful career finishing as a division director for a U.S. chemical manufacturing company and retired from Degussa Ivanhoe Plant. He was an active member of the community, having prepared tax returns at the Iberia Public Library, and also at his church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Alma Bebe Safford Ebel; six children, Chris Ebel, Karl Ebel, Claire Ebel Skidmore, Eric Ebel, Alex Ebel, and Stacey Ebel; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Carl Ebel, and his mother, Teckla Sofjie Ebel.
