New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for JoAnn Leonard Simpson, 60 who died Saturday, July 10, 2010 in Lafayette.
Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. Michelle Simpson and Angela Vidrine will proclaim the readings. Gift Bearers include Sophie Simpson, Jonathan Lanassa, and Jacob Lanassa.
Born on June 27, 1950, Mrs. Simpson is a native of Marrero and a resident of New Iberia. She enjoyed sewing, watching baseball and football, and working puzzles, but most of all spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, John Simpson, Jr., of New Iberia; daughter, Lori Simpson Harper and husband Scott of New Iberia; son, John M. Simpson, and wife Michele of St. Martinville; sister, Peggy L. Borne and husband Thomas of Marrero; grandchildren, Sophie Simpson, Jonathan Lanassa, and Jacob Lanassa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Gloria Leonard; and a brother, Joseph Leonard. Pallbearers will be John M. Simpson, Scott Harper, Thomas Borne, Lee Ferguson, John Clay Ferguson, and Corey Jackson.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia.
