Joannes Smith

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Joannes "Smitty" Smith, 63, who passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at his residence. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Father Allen Breaux will officiate at the funeral Mass. "Smitty", as he was better known to his family and friends, was retired with Southern Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Smith, of Cecilia; one son, Aaron Smith, of Zachary; two daughters, Carla Smith Mercier and her husband, James, of Cecilia, and Darnel Davis Wiltz and her husband, Lamont, of St. Martinville; two brothers, William "Billy" Mouton and his wife, Eva, of Breaux Bridge, and Carlyle Mouton, of New Orleans; one sister, Carla Auguillard and her husband, Lonnie, of Breaux Bridge; and 12 grandchildren, Tyler Jolivette, Darshan Smith, Cortland Landry, Brannon Mercier, Montel Mercier, Kobe Smith, Kortez Landry, Harmony Wiltz, Amor Davis, Iyanni Davis, LaTrevon Wiltz, and Lavon Wiltz. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Potier Mouton; step father, William "Yato" Mouton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Hilda Palfrey Davis; brother-in-law, Patrick "T-Pat" Davis, Jr.; sister-in-law, Stella Davis; and a nephew, Brandon "Jude" Auguillard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. A Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. Pallbearers will be Jarrett Auguillard, Carnel Davis, Ronny Davis, Jermaine Davis, Damon Mouton, and Terrance Mouton. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
