Arnaudville - Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m. , on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 , at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for John Larry Benoit, 79, who passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville. Rev. Lloyd F. Benoit will officiate a funeral mass and concelebrant will be Rev. Michael J. Arnaud. Entombment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Mausoleum in Arnaudville. Mr. Benoit was a 1948 graduate of Arnaudville High School . Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War as a First Class Radioman aboard LST 822. He is a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed farming, playing golf, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a loving son, husband, father and friend. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Edna Mae 'Tina' L. Benoit of Arnaudville; his daughter, Jennifer Benoit of Baton Rouge ; his nieces, Arlene Olivier Richard, Della Olivier Pontiff and Teresa Olivier Kidder; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Sedonia Castille Benoit; his son, Carl Brian Benoit; two brothers, Joseph Lee Benoit and Carroll Benoit; two sisters, Della Benoit and Elaine Benoit Olivier; and his nephew, Charles Carroll Olivier. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011 and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday by Deacon Arnaud. Pellerin Funeral Home of Arnaudville is in charge of arrangements.
