Coteau - Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for John 'JC' Bourque, 76, who died on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in Coteau.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Orsen J. Daigle, Sr. will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 9:30 AM until 3:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia.
A native of Bull Island, Mr. Bourque was born on February 26, 1937, and has been a lifelong area resident. He worked for A & P Food Stores for 37 years, and then for Simoneauds East for 16 years, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Bourque enjoyed playing his guitar and singing Gospel music, and growing a garden.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Romero Bourque of Coteau; sons, John Wayne Bourque and wife Connie of Coteau, Tommy Jude Bourque and girlfriend Toni of New Iberia; daughter, Shelia Ann Sessions and husband John of Tallassee, Alabama; brother, Herbert Bourque and wife Mitzi of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Mary Winn and husband Jack of Lafayette, Theresa Steele of New Iberia; sisters-in-law, Beverly Bourque of Port Acres, Texas, Lucy Bourque of Coteau, Judy Bourque of New Iberia; 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edias and Effie Rouly Bourque; brothers, Paul Bourque, Antoine Bourque, Purfy 'Joe' Bourque; and a brother-in-law, James Steele.
Pallbearers will be Grant Bourque, Joshua Bourque, Keith Bourque, Chad Bourque, Wesley Migues, and Derrick Landry.
Honorary pallbearers include James Sessions, Joel Hart, John Thompson, Herbert Bourque, Paul Sterling, Clifford Romero, and Jack Winn.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. G. Douglas Sagrera, and AAA Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion.
