Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2006, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for John Earl Catalan, 64, who died Monday, December 11, 2006 at University Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Catalan of Lafayette; his stepson, Michael M. Catalan of FL; his daughters, Tina Marie Catalan Brown of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Catalan Bosset of Baltimore, MD, and Sonya Catalan Anderson of Scott; his brother, Albert Reoland Catalan of CA; his sisters, Sylvia Catalan Landry and Catherine Catalan Porche Handy, both of Lafayette; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Roland Catalan; his mother-in-law, Lola Marie Gathe; his father-in-law, Cleopha Gathe; and his brother-in-law, Larry Porche. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. on Friday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Paulette Blanchett, Dr. Karen Curry, Dr. Charles Prejean, the nurses and staff of U.M.C. and to Options Care. They would also like to give an extra special thank you to Brian Authement and the Gathe family, who provided care to Mr. John on a daily basis.
