Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for John Claude 'Chock' Comb, 87, who passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at his residence. Fr. Allen Breaux will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Anita Rester and Denise Fulton. Gift Bearers will be Caeli Comb and Mariah Rester. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. 'Chock,' as he was better known to his family and friends, was a retired sugar cane farmer. In his free time enjoyed driving while traveling with his family to various campgrounds within the state of Louisiana as well as within the United States. 'Chock' welcomed the opportunity to get together with his family, no matter the occasion. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren - they were his pride and joy. 'Chock' enjoyed helping others, it was something he loved doing and asked for nothing in return. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Theresa D. Comb; two sons, F. Jackie Comb and his wife, Velma Menard Comb, and Darrel W. Comb and his wife, Betty Langlinais Comb; one brother, Carrol J. Comb and his wife, Marjorie; six grandchildren, Denise C. Fulton, Anita C. Rester, Carey Comb, Ren P. Comb, Andr C. Comb, and S. Jacques Comb; nine great grandchildren, Lyle Landry, Mariah Rester, Gunner Rester, Devyn Rester, Caeli Comb, Ethan Comb, Leigh Fulton, Lila Fulton, and Robert Fulton; and one great-great grandchild, Lily Landry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adelma and Anita Tauzin Comb; his sister, Lillian Comb; and his brother, Louis Comb. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Monday and continue on Tuesday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Carey Comb, Ren Comb, Andr Comb, Jacques Comb, Gunner Rester, and Lyle Landry.
