New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church New Iberia, for John Aldes Cormier, 73, who passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM, with Recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 AM.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant. Gift bearers are granddaughters, Kourtney and Amelie Cormier.
Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette, with Military Honors provided by the Iberia Honor Guard.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, John Aldes Cormier was born in Crowley, LA on November 14, 1943 to the late Desire and Mary Simon Cormier. He grew up in Gueydan, LA and has been a resident of New Iberia for the past 48 years. John proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was a very family oriented man, and formerly owned Mr. Jays Restaurant. He loved vegetable gardening and cooking, and was an avid New Orleans Saints fan.
Mr. Cormier is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda M. Cormier; two daughters, Shelley Copell and husband Robert, and Charmion Cormier; two sons, John D. Cormier and wife Angelle, and Jerome Cormier and wife Brandi, all of New Iberia; sisters-in-law, Yolande and Anna; five grandchildren, Joey, Zachary, Kourtney, Gabe, and Amelie Cormier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Hargrave, Agnes Mire, and Velgin Benoit; seven brothers, Lenis, Wilson, Sidney, Irvin, Desire, Paul Allen, and Sam Cormier; and a grandson, Brandon Jerome Cormier.
Serving as pallbearers will be John D. Cormier, Jerome Cormier, Robert Copell, Ronald Monceaux, Aaron Monceaux, and Coston Monceaux.
Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Joey, Zachary and Gabe Cormier.
