John Daquilla

New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM , Thursday, July 7, 2011 , at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for John Lynn Daquilla 70, who passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011 in New Iberia . Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery . Born on July 15, 1940 , John had over 40 years experience in the automotive industry, winning many prestigious awards throughout his career. He began his career in Baytown , Texas coming to New Iberia in 1973 under Mr. Jack Musson, with McMahon Musson Chevrolet and was currently employed with Courtesy Motors. John was known for his honesty and integrity. His word was his bond. He was a mentor to many and a friend to all. He loved all sports, but his passion was L.S.U. football. On game day, he was purple and gold from his head to his toes, and his L.S.U. flag was flying 16ft. high. John was a man of great faith and his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ carried him through to the end of his physical journey here on earth into eternal life. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Reich Daquilla of New Iberia ; son, James J. Daquilla and wife Jessica Adams Daquilla of Paris , Tennessee ; daughter, Geniece Daquilla Mahoney and husband Mark T. Mahoney of New Iberia; step daughter, Rachal M. Patterson of Minden; seven grandchildren, Dominic James Daquilla, Melina Marie Daquilla, and Valerie Gabrielle Daquilla all of Paris, Tennessee, Mallory Kaitlyn Mahoney, Shannon Elizabeth Mahoney, Connor Thomas Mahoney, and Allison Claire Mahoney all of New Iberia; and his beloved pet dog, 'Daisy Willis'. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Daquilla, and his mother, Geneva Sartin Daquilla. Pallbearers will be Jim Daquilla, Mark T. Mahoney, Dominic Daquilla, Mike Biglane, Greg Reich, Ira Marcotte, Billy Babineaux, and ;Keith Watts. Honorary pallbearers include Joseph Scardino, Bryan Hicks, Eric VonAspern, Johnny Minvielle, Caleb Russo, Keisuz Provost, Beno Prudhomme, Tom Fore, Chuck Smith, and Randy Reich.The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Therese Ritter and staff, Amedysis Home Health, Morgan Medical, ;and Heart of Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia .
