Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, March 2, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for John Allen Doré , 81, who passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 10:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Gift Bearers will be his granddaughters
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
John retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation as an Automotive Mechanic. He loved music and started playing music at an early age. He could often be found at local jam sessions. For years, he and other musicians played Cajun music for the elderly at local nursing homes.
He was an inspiration to many and was willing to listen to anyone who needed. John was a sponsor and known as a shepherd to many in their recovery efforts at Alcoholics Anonymous. John adored his family and was so proud to see all of his family together and see their families grow. In his final days, the sounds of his family near his side gave him peace. During this difficult time, seeing his great grandchildren brought a smile to his face. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his sons, Randy P. Doré (Iris) , Dean Doré (Marlene) and Ryan Doré (Gail); grandchildren, Ava D. Guidry (Robert), Ashley D. Dale (Bubba), Tiffany D. Breaux (Jon), Bryce Doré (Alexis Johnson), Treg Doré (Bailey Burgess), and Braylon Doré (Darian Vincent); great grandchildren, Lana Breaux, Aidyn Doré, Quade Dale, Leighton Breaux, Keira Guidry, Makayla Guidry, Clay Dale, Jon Paul "JP" Dale, Coy Dale, and Steven Dale; and his very special friend, Joan Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Landry Doré; parents, John and Rose Allemand Doré; and one brother, Lester Doré.
Pallbearers will be Randy P. Doré, Dean Doré, Ryan Doré, Bryce Doré, Treg Doré, and Braylon Doré.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Guidry, Jon Breaux, Bubba Dale, Bobby Olivier, and Troy Landry.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana, to all who helped with his care the last few weeks, and to those who sent messages and called offering kind words, support, and prayers. The family is forever grateful for everyone that was there in John's time of need.
