BREAUX BRIDGE- - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge for John Goulas, Sr., 75, who went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 29, 2010 after a lengthy illness with Alzheimers. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery #2 in Breaux Bridge. Reverend Sterling Miller will conduct the services. John was born to Didier and Edith Goulas on August 20, 1934 in Lafayette, Louisiana. John married the love of his life, Ida Bergeron Goulas, in December of 1954 and raised his beautiful family in the years following. His kind and loving manner was paramount for all who knew him. Affectionately known as 'Poppy' to all of his 'babies', John had 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren that were glad recipients of his sweet and giving heart. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ida Bergeron Goulas of Carencro; two sons, Tony Goulas and his wife, Lynn, of Carencro, and John Goulas Jr. and his wife, Trina, of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Sharlene Sonnier and her husband, Tony, of Carencro, and Sherry Begnaud and her husband, Bryan, of Breaux Bridge; two brothers, Lawrence Goulas and his wife, Ezola, of Lafayette, and Assistant Fire Chief of the City of Lafayette, Russell Goulas and his wife, Wanda, of Breaux Bridge; three sisters, Ruby Courville and her husband, Harold, of Lafayette, Cala Ann G. Bourque of Lafayette, and Wanda Genevieve Menard and her husband, Joe, of Youngsville; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Didier and Edith Goulas; one brother, Bill Dent; one sister, Flo Navarre; and his mother and father in law, Marie H. Bergeron and Wilfred 'Dago' Bergeron. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with ;a Eulogy being read by Colt LeBlanc at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 2010 and continue at 8:00 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be his sons, Tony Goulas, and John Goulas, Jr.; his brother, Russell Goulas; his grandsons, Brian Sonnier, Will Begnaud, Sam Goulas, Brandon Northcutt, and Joshua Goulas; and his great grandson, Logan Sonnier. Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Goulas, and Joseph 'T-Boy' Bergeron. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Johns caregivers, Janet Lewis, and Anna with Journey Hospice, and Verna Angelle.
