John Milton Guidry

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for John Milton Guidry, 75, who passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Fr. Allen Breaux, associate pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church, will conduct the services. Mr. Guidry was a member of the Knights of Columbus and of the International Order of the Alhambra, of which he served as a former Grand Commander. He worked for New York Life Insurance Company for 23 years; he also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Theresa McCormick Guidry of Breaux Bridge; his sons, John Wade (Jack) Guidry and his wife, Tammy of Bloomington, IN, James Guidry and his wife, Dianne of Waldorf, MD, and Joseph Guidry and his, wife, Carol of Newburgh, IN; his daughters, Judy Waugaman and her husband, Jim of Cumming, GA, Jean (BJ) Knight and her husband, Jim of St. Francisville, LA, Rev. Joellen Simmons and her husband, Rev. Brian of Halifax, VA, Joan Guidry of Breaux Bridge, LA, Jerri Joy Borke and her husband, Michael of Virginia Beach, VA and Jennifer Hirschey and her husband, SSGT (USMC) Thomas of Beaufort, SC; 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Euda Benoit Guidry. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 and continue 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be his sons, Jack, James, and Joseph Guidry, and sons-in-law, Jim Knight, Jim Waugaman and Mike Borke. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Brian Simmons, Gavin Borke, Daniel Schnexnadre, Jonathan Schellhammer, Jarrett Guidry, Nicholas Guidry, John Robert Guidry, Joshua Simmons, Jeff Knight, SSGT (USMC) Thomas Hirschey, Joseph James Guidry and Steven Rynard. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
