Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for John Roger Hebert, 86, who passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at his residence. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm on Friday at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 12 noon on Friday. Rev. Neil Pettit will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Roger enjoyed horse racing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with the love of his life, Goldie. Family was everything to him, especially his nieces and nephews. He had a special bond with his nephews, Kenneth, Danny, Clyde, and Scotty, whom he looked at like his own sons. He worked hard all his life and wanted to provide a good life for himself and his beloved wife. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Goldie Theresa Touchet Hebert; and his sister, Vivian Savoie of St. Martinville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Elmer Monte Hebert; his brothers, Walter, William, and James Hebert; his sisters, Edith Castille and Odita Angelle; and a great nephew, Justin James Duplechien. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Touchet, Danny Touchet, Guy Escoyne, Anthony Duplechien, and Scotty Hebert. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Lasseigne, Clint Dore, Dayne Touchet, and Harold Touchet. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Amedisys Hospice and their staff, and to his sitters, Judy Dupuis, Misty Poirier, and Theresa Meche, for the attentive care given to him during his time of need.
