Lawtell - A Graveside Committal Service will be held at 5 p.m., on Sunday, June 7, 2009, at St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell, for John Huval, 96, who passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Agnes Nursing Home in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Huval was a veteran of World War II, having honorably served his country in the battle at Pearl Harbor, in the United States Army. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He worked as a guard at Angola State Penitentiary for many years. John enjoyed gardening and spending time visiting with his family.
Survivors include his brother, Ray Huval, of Breaux Bridge; his sister, Helen Bourgeois, of Lawtell; one nephew, Joseph Huval and his wife, Peggy, of New Iberia; six nieces, Helena Champagne and her husband, Lewis, Mary Brenda Bourgeois, Angela O'rourke, all of Lawtell, Donna Tanner, of Port Arthur, TX, Marla Miller, of North Carolina, and Janet Benoit and her husband, Greg, of Breaux Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Leota LeBlanc Huval; a brother, Joseph Huval; and a sister, Willehmina Champagne.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 11 a.m. until time 4 p.m. on Sunday.
A rosary will be recited by Lou Theriot at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Benoit, Brooks Benoit, Greg Benoit, and Sherman Thibodeaux.
