Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge for John Wayne Benoit, 68, who passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 3:00 pm. 

Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Funeral Service. Readers will be Chris Benoit, Brandon Benoit and Monica Verrett. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.

John Wayne loved being around his family, especially his loving wife, kids, and granddaughter. After a full career at Evangeline Downs and Races of Aces, he finally was able to enjoy his pastimes of fishing, thoroughbred racing, and being around his family and friends. He will truly be missed, but we know he will watch over us all. "We love you Poppi!"

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cherell T. Benoit; son, Brandon Benoit (Taylor) and Christopher Benoit; brother, Larry Credeur (Tonya); grand-daughter, Caroline John Benoit; and grand-dog, Carmella Rose'.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Benoit and Stuna Credeur Benoit; brothers, Terry Benoit and wife, Stella and Ronnie Benoit and wife, Pam; sister, Sandra Soileau and husband, Dale; parents-in-law, Edith B. Theriot and William Theriot, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Ames Theriot and William "T-Jun" Theriot, Jr.; and his beloved dog, Chico.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Benoit, Larry Credeur, Mitch Royer, Harold Theriot, Jamie Theriot and Craig Benoit.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Zack Pierret, Glenn Pierret and Mike Broussard.
