Arnaudville - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for John Batiste Lalonde, 87, who passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 at J. Michael Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville.
Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Rev. Fr. Keenan Brown, pastor of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral service.
Mr. Lalonde worked as a welder for Williams-McWilliams for 40 years and retired from T. L. James, in 1982. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion in Arnaudville. He enjoyed playing bingo and gardening. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Ethel Patin, of Arnaudville; one son, Michael Lalonde and his wife, Barbara, of Arnaudville; two daughters, Sherline Guidry and her husband, Gerald, of Cecilia, and Stella Thornton, of New Iberia; one sister, Shirley Olivier and her husband, Burton, of Arnaudville; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Madeline Babineaux Lalonde; and two brothers, Andrew and Claude Lalonde.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Corey Lalonde, Burton Olivier, Jr., Kerry Lalonde, Carl Olivier, Mike Lalonde, Jr., Glenn Olivier, and Jonathon Thornton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Lalonde, Laine Lalonde, Landon Lalonde, and Hunter Lalonde.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Arnaudville is in charge of arrangements.
