Larry was born on April 24, 1939, in Nina Station, LA. Throughout his life, he lived serving his faith by attending daily Mass, leading his family in prayer and supporting St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, SD.
Larry embraced the cowboy lifestyle with total conviction - from his choice of clothing to his love for Peruvian horses, which he trained himself. He once rode a horse through the Grand Canyon, spending the night in the valley before riding back up in the sunrise. He was fearless and determined regarding his horses and loved them with all his heart.
Larry's passion for riding was evident early on in his life, but it wasn't until he met a dear friend, Carl Hudson, from Texas, that he truly became a cowboy. Carl introduced Larry to Western-style clothes, and from then on, there was no stopping him. Larry would wear these outfits every chance he got, and they became an integral part of who he was.
As a show horseman, Larry won numerous awards over the years; however, one of his proudest accomplishments was his beautiful family. His legacy will live on through those who knew him well, as they will never forget him as a true cowboy at heart. Larry leaves behind his wife and children, who will forever be proud of the man he was and all he accomplished in his lifetime. While we grieve Larry's passing today, we take solace in knowing that he lived life to the fullest - with faith, courage, and a heart full of love.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty LeBlanc Guidry; children, Douglas Guidry (Annette), Marty Guidry (Sheri), and Kristine Devillier (Johnny); sister, Priscilla deLaloire; grandchildren, Amanda Devillier, Tana Safford (Harold), Trent Guidry (Hailey), Ali Begnaud (Jed), Kylie Guidry (fiancée, Brandon) and Noah Guidry; and great-grandchildren, Sydney, Cohen, Sophia, Zander, Demi, Tripp, Catherine, Brecken, Allen and Ridge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Solange Guidry; Aunts, Lota Guidry and Anita Zimmerman; and brother-in-law, John B. deLaloire.
Pallbearers will be Douglas, Marty, Trent and Noah Guidry, Johnny Devillier, and Terry Thibodeaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold, Cohen, Tripp Safford, Zander Guidry, Barry Daigle, Pat Thibodeaux, and Jed Begnaud.
