New Iberia - Private services and interment will be held at a later date for John G. Ramirez, 74, who passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, in New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Saturday.
Mr. Ramirez was born on June 3, 1941 in Joliet, Montana to James and Hope Barrios Ramirez, and has been a resident of New Iberia since 1978. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Naval Reserves, and Air Force Reserves, he worked in the Mining Industry for 50 years, retiring as a Federal Mine Inspector for M.S.H.A. Mr. Ramirez was a member of the Nativity Rosary Ministry, and a member of the Mine Rescue Team. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, and he enjoyed cooking and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Corliss Guyote Ramirez; sons, John Ramirez, Jr. and wife Michelle of Elko, Nevada, Mitchell Ramirez and fiance Jackie Broussard of New Iberia; daughter, Courtney Babineaux and husband Jared of New Iberia; sister, Patsy Ramirez of Idaho; grandchildren, Tara Marceaux, Rylan Babineaux, Sadie Babineaux, Johnny Ramirez, Nicole Ramirez, Madelyn Broussard, Jacelyn Dore, Michael Goo, Gavin Goo; great-grandchildren, Lily Rae Ramirez, Adalyn Darby, and Taylor Coast.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Russell Ramirez; brother, William "Bill" Ramirez; sisters, Mary Ann Fenton, and Judy Ramirez.
