John Phillip Savoy, Sr.

St. Martinville - Private services were held for John Phillip Savoy, Sr., 61, who passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Iberia Medical Center. Interment followed at House of Love Cemetery in Saint Martinville. John was a truck driver for many years and had a true passion for his job. He enjoyed fishing and watching football. He loved music and was musically inclined; he could play many different instruments. His love for his family was enormous and John cherished his time spent with them. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Sonya Savoy; daughter, Querreá Savoy; son, John Savoy, Jr.; six stepdaughters, Erica Blackwell, Terica Blackwell, Sherica Celestine, Pherica (Joshua) Fontenette, America (Damon) Guilliam and Angel (Brent) Williams; stepson, Joseph Celestine; stepson and godchild, Sheavon Narcisse; brother, Elliot (Rita) Savoy; two sisters, Carlette (Cassidy) Kately and Claudette (Doug) Robertson; and his 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Savoy, Sr.; mother, Mary Joyce Savoy; brother, Harold Savoy, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Samson and Editha Champ Savoy; and maternal grandmother, Lillian Martin. Pallbearers will be Byron Savoy, Corey Savoy, Derrick George, Edmond Joseph, Kevin Martin, and Sidney Lawrence.
