New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel, for John Henry Skinner, 67, who passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2008 in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum.
Pastor David Denton of Highland Baptist will conduct the funeral service.
Born on July 15, 1941, John is the son of the late Harry Alfred and Sophie Mary Wysocki Skinner. Raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, John lived most of his life in New Iberia and later retired to Sevierville, Tennessee. He proudly served our country having been in the United States Navy. Throughout his life John was active in many organizations, which included: the American Legion, a volunteer for Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America leader for 14 years, a member of the Freelance Photographers and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. John retired from CLECO after 35 years of service.
Survivors include his former wife, Peggy Peltier Skinner Romero; his daughters Robin Breaux and husband Jeff of Charlotte, NC, Stephanie Gulotta and husband David, Michele Broussard and husband Chris, both of New Iberia; sons, Todd Skinner and wife Renee of Youngsville, Darrin Skinner of Houston; brother, Harry Skinner of Easton, Connecticut; sisters, Barbara Cianciola of Stratford, Connecticut, Marilyn Baker of Detroit, Maine; grandchildren, Johanna Skinner, Morgan Alexis Breaux, Madison Breaux, Caleb Broussard, Sophie Broussard, Ramsey Gulotta, Cameron Gulotta, Quinten Gulotta and Grant Gulotta.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Breaux, Chris Broussard, David Gulotta, Ron Girouard, John Trey Wise and Marco Cianciola.
The extraordinary and compassionate care given to John during his final days by Hospice of Acadiana is greatly appreciated.

A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
