John "T-Neg" Benoit

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for John "T-Neg" Benoit, 80, who passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at The Calcutta House in Lafayette. 

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 3:30 pm until 9:00 pm. It will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am. 

A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday evening, by Deacon Ken Soignier. 

Father Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. 

John was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia. He was a member of the Whiskey Bay Hunting Club for many years. He loved spending time outdoors, hunting and going to the camp. John's greatest passions were gardening and farming. He was a devoted brother, uncle and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his brothers, Clarence Benoit, Russell Benoit (Barbara) and Michael "Mike" Benoit (Jana); sisters, Gladys Guidry and Peggy Robin (Bobby); and an abundance of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Carriere Benoit; parents, Leo Benoit, Sr. and Laura Olivier Benoit; brother, Leo Benoit, Jr.; brother-in-law, Ernest Guidry; nephew, Dale Robin; and nephew and godchild, Brad Robin. 

Pallbearers will be Russell Benoit, Mike Benoit, Jason Benoit, Chris Berard, Ben Berard and Terry Guidry. Honorary pallbearer will be Brian Berard.
