Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2007, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for John Vital Trosclair, 77, who died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.
Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 - Mausoleum, in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. Allen Breaux, associate pastor of St. Bernard Church, will conduct the funeral service. The readers will be Jane Melancon and Julie Hebert. The giftbearers will be his grandchildren, Katie, Jacob, Brittney and Tateum Trosclair.
Mr. Trosclair was a teacher and coach for 30 years and served in the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years. He served on the board of directors of H.B.P.A. and was a member of the Krewe of Zeus, the International Good Neighbors, and a participant in the St. Bernard Perpetual Adoration Chapel. He enjoyed telling jokes, dancing, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by the love of his life for 48 years, his wife, Dolores "Del" Trosclair, of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Tony Trosclair and his wife, Lynn, of Lafayette, and Toby Trosclair and his wife, Tricia, of Breaux Bridge; and four grandchildren, Katie, Jacob, and Brittney Trosclair, all of Lafayette, and Tateum Trosclair, of Breaux Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy T. Knowlton; and his parents, Vital and Lucille Champagne Trosclair.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Pallbearers will be his two sons, Tony and Toby Trosclair, Sonny Bourg, Glen Matthews, Alfred Fuselier, and Bennie Thibodeaux.
