Henderson, LA – A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, LA for Johnny Blaine Melancon, 50, of Iowa, LA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 22, 2018 while on his delayed honeymoon in Mexico. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Henderson, LA from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM Deacon Butch Hebert will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. Johnny was born December 28, 1967 in Arnaudville, LA, lived most of his life in Henderson and moved to the Lake Charles area eight years ago. He graduated from Cecilia High School and was raised in the Catholic faith. He started his career at Bean Dredging and worked for Kirby Inland Marine for over twelve years as a boat captain. He enjoyed restoring old cars, watching football and baseball, and loved spending time outdoors. He will always be remembered for his love of life and his happy, outgoing personality. Johnny is survived by his wife of three years, Ramona Gail Thibodeaux Melancon, formerly of Grand Lake, LA; his four daughters, Faythe E. Hebert and husband Rocky of Breaux Bridge, LA, Brooke M. Carriere and husband Lance of Arnaudville, LA, Leslie Anne Powell and husband James of Springfield, LA, and Raynee R. Montet of Cecilia, LA; step-children, Grant, Curstin and Gabe Menard; his father, Lee Roy Melancon of Henderson, LA; brothers, Terry Melancon and Graig Melancon, both of Henderson, LA; sister, Cynthia Melancon LaGrange and husband Ricky of Arnaudville, LA; his two grandchildren, Willow G. Hebert and Odie A. Hebert; and one grandson on-the-way, Bryston James Powell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Zula Mae Noel Melancon; maternal grandparents, Moise Noel and Ella Miller Noel; and paternal grandparents, Dewey Melancon and Lota Blanchard Melancon Fruge.
