Jonathan, affectionately known to his family and friends as “Big Jon”, was a 1993 graduate of Breaux Bridge High School. While in high school he participated in football and baseball. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching the L.S.U. Tigers, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, the New York Yankees, and the Oakland Raiders. Big Jon loved listening to Country music and he always called his Nanny when the CMA’s were on.
Big Jon was a truck driver for many years - he loved 18-wheelers and traveling the highways of the United States. He especially loved riding his motorcycle every chance he could.
A loving and respectful son, there are so many ways to try and describe who Jonathan was. To many, Big Jon was not only a friend, but he was a brother, a father-figure, an “adopted” Uncle Jon and a mentor to many children and young adults. He was a caring, thoughtful, and a selfless man who LOVED – he genuinely loved everyone, and everyone loved him. Big Jon shared his love with many friends; friends who became family to him. Over the years, his friendship never wavered, and he never missed any important events for his family or any one of his friends or their children; he was always there to lend support or a helping hand when needed. Big Jon was recently described as a “gentle giant” – he never failed to greet you with a hug and a kiss. He never met a stranger, and any stranger ever met became his friend for life. Big Jon will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends, but the memories made with him will forever remain in their hearts.
He is survived by his loving parents, Robert Curley Wiltz and Betty Ann Valsin Wiltz; Godmother and aunt, Hazel Wiltz; Godfather, Herbert Joseph Hypolite; Godchild, Kaleb Journet; two very special children in his life, Carson Thibodeaux and Reese Albert; and his aunts and uncles, Edward (Edna) Wiltz, Mabel Wiltz, Cecile Wiltz, Francis Wiltz, Dorothy Anthony, Theresa Etienne, Octave (Anita) Valsin, Joseph (Evelyn) Valsin, and Russell (Mary Alice) Valsin; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jermaine Wiltz; his paternal grandparents, Edward Curley Wiltz and Bernadette Wiltz; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Ophelia Valsin; aunts Mary Mildred Dugas, Emily Raymond, Modeste Phillips, Mary Ann Valsin, and Shirley Wiltz; his uncles, John Wiltz, Francis and Eugene Valsin, Norman Dugas, Clarence Anthony, John Raymond, and James Etienne; and his cousins, Stephen Dugas, Mary “Mandy” Batiste, Francine Williams, Robert Phillips, and Michael Raymond.
Pallbearers will be Ephream Dugas, Ryan Dore', Brad Wiltz, Donnie Boudreaux, Chad Champagne, and Joshua Boyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryce Dore', Jamie Hebert, Julian Romero; and his uncles, Edward Wiltz, Francis Wiltz, Russell Valsin, Octave Valsin, and Joseph Milton Valsin.
