St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, March 24, 2008, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Joseph Herbert Alexander, 59, who passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at his residence. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, in St. Martinville. Fr. Aaron Melancon , will officiate at the funeral Mass. Joseph enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Patsy B. Alexander, of St. Martinville; three sons, Cornel Alexander, and Dwayne Alexander, both of St. Martinville, and Jerry Alexander and his wife, Sarah, of Breaux Bridge; his mother, Margaret D. Alexander, of St. Martinville; one brother, Russell Alexander, of St. Martinville; one sister, Rose Champ and her husband, Willie, of St. Martinville; three grandchildren, Cordell Phillips, Cedric Cole, and Shaterral Alexander; two aunts, Melvinia Savoy, of New Orleans, and Dorothy Handy, of St. Martinville; and two uncles, Walter Alexander, Jr., and Joseph Davis, both of St. Martinville. He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Alexander; his paternal grandparents, Eunice Etienne Alexander and Walter Alexander, Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Margaret Savoy Davis and Valaire Davis. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
