With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph Gene Alfred, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.
Joseph worked as a skilled butcher in the local industry, a profession he dedicated himself to with passion and pride. Beyond his profession, Joseph found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved going to the casino and playing the Powerball, always hoping to "Hit the big one!". He relished moments spent fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. A connoisseur of Zydeco music, a talented cook, and a spirited card player, Joseph embraced life's joys with enthusiasm. He found peace in the company of his family and friends, often sharing a cold beer and laughter with those he held dear.
As we bid farewell to Joseph Gene Alfred, we remember a man of warmth, generosity, and unconditional love. May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him. Rest in peace, Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Georgia Alfred; son, Henry Joseph Alfred (Shantell Thorn); brothers, Morris Alfred, Joseph Alfred, Francis Alfred, Norris Alfred, Donald Alfred, Jimmy Alfred, and Wilson Alfred; sisters, Audrey Bossier, Barbara Bossier, Ruby Prejean, and Mary Corrine Woods; grandchildren, Kennedy Alfred, Kaleigh Alfred, Gentry Venable, Damara Thorn, and Dequincy Saine; and his great-grandchildren, Allei Beale and Auree Beale.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Alfred, Sr. and Agnes Thomas Alfred; brothers, Alton Alfred, Paul Alfred Jr., Walter Alfred, and Freddie Alfred, Sr.; and his sisters, Rose Alfred, Rita LeBlanc, and Georgia Prejean.
Pallbearers will be Morris Alexander, Joseph Alfred, Milton Bossier, DeAndre Bossier, Victor Alexander and Curtis Bossier.
