Joseph Caffery Amest

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, November 17, 2007, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joseph Caffery "Boze" Amest, 78, who passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Fr. James Fallon, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral service. Mr. Amest was a member of the Local Union for over 30 years. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Agnes B. Amest, of Breaux Bridge; four sons, Shelton Amest and his wife, Marcella, of Breaux Bridge, Michael Amest and his wife, Cherie, of Youngsville, Howard Amest and his wife, Barbara, of Lafayette, and Randy Amest, of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Peggy Sonnier and her husband, Bobby, and Sheila Wiltz and her husband, Craig, Sr., all of Lafayette; one brother, Joseph Cyril Amest and his wife, Evelyn, of Lake Charles; two sisters, Beanna Broussard, of Lake Charles, and Mary Collins and her husband, Wilber, of Crosby, TX; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Florence Savoie Amest; three brothers, Alfred, Irvin, and Clarence Amest; two sisters, Edna Charles and Mary Alice Fennie; maternal grandparents, Alfred and Emma Savoie; and his paternal grandparents, Henry and Victoria Singleton Amest. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
