New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Joseph Donald Badon, 83, who passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Monday. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am.
A native of Cow Island, and a resident of New Iberia for 50 years, Mr. Badon was born on January 25, 1935 to the late Eustis and Ella Clostio Badon. He was a graduate of E. Broussard High School and SLI, now University of Louisiana Lafayette, and worked as an exploration geologist for Schlumberger and Union Oil of California (Unocal). After retirement, Mr. Badon worked as a geological consultant, as well as starting an environmental testing company. He enjoyed quail hunting, and had a love for bird dogs, especially Brittany Spaniels.
Survivors include his son, Eamon Badon and wife Stephanie of New Iberia; and his grandchildren, Jack Badon, and Deanna Kilgore.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary Theresa Badon; daughter, Majella Badon Kilgore; brother, Huey Badon; and a sister, Shirley Guidry.
The family would like to give special thanks to Fr. Ed Degeyter for his visits, prayers, and spiritual guidance, and to Dr. Carl Ditch, MD, Dr. Shelly Savant, MD, Hope Health Care and Hospice, especially Beryl Dore, David Ditch and the staff of Home Instead Senior Care, especially Wanda Paillett for their extraordinary care and compassion.
