Breaux Bridge- Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joseph Ray Jean Batiste, 36, who died on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at St. Martin Hospital.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Fr. Joseph Campion will officiate at the funeral service. Scriptures will be read by Francine Gary and Cicely Ozen. Gift Bearers will be his children. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Joseph enjoyed playing basketball and football. He loved dogs and horses and enjoyed tending to them. In his free time he enjoyed drawing and sketching. The times he enjoyed the most were those spent with his children, family and friends.
He is survived by his father, Joseph Ray Bernard, Sr. of Lafayette; three sons, Tanerian Babineaux, Brenan Jean Batiste, and Raydien Celestine; three daughters, Raveine Noel, Corianna Wiltz, and Rayien Jones, all of Breaux Bridge; his brother, Joseph Ray Bernard, Jr. of Lafayette; and two sisters, Kizzy Thibeaux of Breaux Bridge, and Bridgett Bernard of Lafayette.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Jean Batiste; his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Elizabeth Jean Batiste; paternal grandfather, Raymond Bernard; and his aunt, Susan Jean Batiste.
Pallbearers will be Damon Mouton, Damien Alexander, Demarcus Brown, Jonathan Mouton, Kenneth Bernard, and Reggie Noel.
