Parks - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Joseph Michael Benjamin, 78, who passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Louis Chapel in Parks from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Saturday. Fr. Donovan Labbe will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Benjamin loved cooking, especially barbecuing. He enjoyed farming and being with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Broussard Benjamin; his sons, Joseph Michael Benjamin, Jr. and wife Donna, Paul Benjamin and wife Margaret, John Benjamin and wife Kasaundra, Herbert Benjamin and wife YoTonja, Perry Benjamin and wife Patricia, Ernest Benjamin and wife Cynthia, Horace Benjamin and wife Annj, and Roland Benjamin and wife Tanya; his twin brother, Patrick Benjamin; his sisters, Celina Wiltz, Eva Labb, Jessae Mae James, Janella Blanchard, and Laverna Babin; his brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Broussard and wife, Stella; 22 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, George and Amanda Joseph Benjamin; his brothers, Alton, Sterling, and Jessie Benjamin; and his sisters, Mary Richard and Margaret Clement. Pallbearers will be Calvin Labb, Raymond Richard, Calvin Wiltz, Lawrence Blanchard, Lonnie Zeno, Raymond Benjamin, MaCary Benjamin, and Craig Benjamin. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Benjamin, Patrick Benjamin, Brandon Benjamin, Ernest Benjamin, Jr., and Damareo Benjamin. Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111), is in charge of arrangements.
