Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church for Joseph Evans Stelly, 59, who passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at his residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Arnaudville on Friday from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:45 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday.
Father Travis Abadie will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Olivia Sonnier, Leola Bernard and Brandy Daigle. Gift bearers will be Alexia Dupuis, Sydney Sonnier and Camillia Stelly.
Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery.
Joseph "Big Joe" was born on March 13, 1965, in Arnaudville. Big Joe was a man of many interests. He found joy in the simple things in life - time with his beloved family and grandchildren always brought a smile to his face. His love for fishing took him to serene waters where he found peace. Known as the ultimate grill master, Big Joe's barbeques were legendary among his friends and family. His green thumb was evident in his beautiful garden, which was a source of pride and joy for him. A true handyman, he could fix just about anything and was lovingly referred to as "Mr. Fix it." In his leisure time, he loved gathering with loved ones for a friendly game of cards.
Big Joe will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his daughters, Christina Sonnier (Ozeime) and Katie Jo Stelly; sister, Beverly Domingue; brother, David Stelly (Cecile); and his grandchildren, Alexia Dupuis, Olivia Sonnier, Sydney Sonnier, Camillia Stelly, Brenden Langlois and Mason Sonnier.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Joseph "T-Red" S. and Rose Savoie Stelly; brother, Joseph Stelly; grandchildren, Jake and Jude Sonnier; 4 grandparents; niece; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Ozeime Sonnier, David Stelly, Ricky Domingue, Jr., Jude Stelly, Bobby Mouton, Kody "Porkchop" Daigle, Mason Sonnier, Brendon Langlois, Brent Savioe and Leopold "Junior" Bernard.
