New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Joseph 'Bruce' Broussard, Sr., 77, who died Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in New Iberia . Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. The readings will be proclaimed by Jaclyn Coughlin and Belinda Boudreaux. Gift Bearers include Sarah Broussard, and Krislyn Broussard. Born on September 11, 1933 in Delcambre, Mr. Broussard proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, and then worked for Cleco, as a lineman, retiring after 30 years of service. A member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3425 since 1958, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, going on Bus Tours to the Casino, and helping others. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ada Belle David Broussard of New Iberia; daughters, Carrie Verret and husband Bobby of New Iberia, Shirley Guiolette and husband Gill of Scott, Tina Coughlin and husband Trey of Jeanerette; sons, Ted Broussard and wife Melanie of St. Martinville, Michael Broussard of New Iberia, Randy Broussard of New Iberia, Joseph 'Topy' Broussard, Jr. and wife Alice of St. Martinville; sister, Priscilla Breaux and husband Dale of Delcambre; 16 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Issac Broussard, Sr. and Jeanne' Sonnier Broussard; brother, Issac Broussard, Jr.; sister, Genny Belanger; nephew, Matt Armentor, Jr. Pallbearers will be Aaron Broussard, Jacob Broussard, Robie Verret , Jordan Broussard, Ray Coughlin, and Randy Broussard, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Leroy Toups, Larry Gaspard, Trey Coughlin, Bobby Verret, Gil Guiollotte, and Dale Breaux. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Thursday.
