Catahoula - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, April 14, 2008, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, for Joseph "T-Joe" Courville, Jr., 94, who passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008 at his residence.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula.
Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the funeral Mass.
Mr. Courville and his wife, Yola, were married on January 4, 1933. He was an honorary member of the Catahoula Hunting Club and a "Special Deputy" of Catahoula.
Survivors include loving wife of 75 years, Yola Theriot Courville, of Catahoula; five sons, David Courville and wife, Joan, of Marrero, Dennis Courville and wife, Sesina, of Loreauville, Raymond Courville and wife, Peggy, of Breaux Bridge, James Courville and wife, Judy, and Brannon Courville and wife, LouElla, all of Catahoula; four daughters, Eula Mea Champagne, of St. Martinville, Una Borel and husband, Walter, of Lafayette, Deana Broussard and husband, Carroll, of Broussard, and Brenda Thibodeaux and husband, Allen, of Coteau Holmes; two brothers, Otis Courville, of Catahoula, and Douglas Courville, of Cecilia; 47 grandchildren; 85 great grandchildren; 28 great-great grandchildren; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice B. and Joseph Courville, Sr.; three sons, Willis, John, and Daniel Courville; one daughter, Eunice Barras; a son-in-law, Rufus Champagne; three brothers, Similian, Dewey, and Donald Courville; five sisters, Youla Laviolette, Yolan Boudreaux, Doris Forestier, Bernice Stevenson, and Sue Kilgore; and 6 grandchildren.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Church Hall from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
A rosary will be recited at 7p.m. on Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Brannon Courville, Carroll Broussard, James Courville, Jr., Scott Courville, Bill Clark, and Brett Courville.
