Parks - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 11, 2022 at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Joseph "Curl" Lennis Phillips, Sr., 87, who passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Friday from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM on Friday.
Father Marvin Gyasie will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Phillips worked for St. Martin Land Company for 26 years before going on to work at Martin Mills for 10 years. He enjoyed watching westerns, gardening, doing mechanic work, and cooking for family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Oriska J. Phillips; children, Lawrence James (Winola) Phillips, Betty J. (Nolan) Fontenette, Lennis James (Juanita) Phillips, Jr., Judy (Victor) Phillips, Leroy (Angelica Roberts) Phillips, Mona Phillips (Eric) James, and Malone (Marcus) LeBlanc; sisters, Nola Mae Benjamin, Leona Phillips, Viola Joseph, Hilda Alexander, Ida Alexander, Irma Phillips, and Veronica Phillips; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ida Patt Phillips; grandchild, Jaylon Anthony James; great-grandchild, Trey Latrell Demouchette; sisters, Anna Belle Johnson and Genevieve Joseph; and his brothers, Dennis Phillips and Michael Phillips.
