Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Joseph Wilbert Dartez, Sr., 88, who passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 8:00 am until 10:30 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Arnaudville. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday.
Rev. Keenan Brown will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Chrystal Dartez. His grandchildren will serve as Gift Bearers. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Mr. Dartez was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver. He enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Los Angeles Dodgers. Mr. Dartez cherished moments spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Deanna Calais and husband, Harold, of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Ronnie Dartez and wife, Carlene, of Cankton, Wilbert Dartez, Jr. of Arnaudville, and Freddie Dartez and wife, Aretha, of Carencro; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruby Batiste Dartez; his parents, Clopha and Clemantine Patt Dartez; three brothers, William, Henry, and Howard Dartez; and five sisters, Rena Lastrapes, Alice Chevalier, Ella Simon, Mable White, and Mary Lucy Roy.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Calais, Freddie Dartez, II, Xavier Dartez, Nathan Powell, Hubert Batiste, Jr., and Wilford Chevalier.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Dartez, Wilbert Dartez, Jr., Freddie Dartez, Harold Calais, Reggie Thomas, Dwayne Kinnerson, Chris Batiste, Bryan Batiste, Ronald Gordon, Rodney Batiste, Raquel Zenon, Mary Cecil White, James Chevalier, Randy Richard, Ronnie Porche, and Mike Wiltz.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Regional Healthcare, especially Katina Lemelle, and staff, the staff of J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home, and Dr. Bryan LaBean, for the wonderful care and attention he was given.
