New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Iberia for Joseph Alvis “Elvis” Campbell, 78, who passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at The Carpenter House St. Joseph Hospice.
Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia.
Rev. William Blanda will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm on Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Campbell was born on March 5, 1941 to the late Erice and Mable Legnon Campbell. He held many jobs throughout his life, including house painting, the oilfield, and the shrimp processing plant in Delcambre. An avid sports fan, Elvis loved fishing, going to the casino, eating crawfish, cooking/baking, gardening, and watching wrestling and boxing, but what he cherished most was time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Dore Campbell; sons, Eddie Campbell and Baron Campbell of Lafayette, and Del Campbell and wife Skyla of Marion; daughter, Mary Campbell Broussard and husband Jeremy of Coteau; brother, Louday Campbell and wife Lilly Mae of New Iberia; grandchildren, Logan Broussard, Trey M. Campbell, Chelsea Campbell, Landon Broussard, Bailey Broussard, and Sage Campbell; sister-in-law, Doris Campbell; godchildren, Debbie Perez, Manuel Campbell, Nicole Robicheaux, Kathleen Mergist, and Donna Faye Campbell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Everta Robicheaux, Manson Campbell, and Marie Campbell.
Pallbearers will be Del Campbell, Eddie Campbell, Logan Broussard, Trey M. Campbell, Landon Broussard, and Charles Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
