New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Joseph "Benny" Fontane, 60, who passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2009 in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Born on August 11, 1948, Benny is a graduate of U.S.L. and was formerly a sales manager for KANE Radio, and an Allstate Insurance Agent. He has been a member of the Kiwanis Club since 1978, and is a past Division Chairman of the Iberia Parish United Way. Benny loved listening to music and watching movies. Survivors include his mother, Olga Knight of Baton Rouge; daughters, Natalie Fontane of Las Vegas, NV, Christina Fontane of New Iberia; sister, Kathy Zerangue of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph B. Fontane, Sr. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia.
