Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joseph "Uncle Joe" Hebert, III, 73, who passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scripture readings will be read by Chelsey and Twahana Hebert. Gifts will be presented to the Altar by Layne and Baylee Huval. Music will be provided by Emmaline and Charlie Thibodeaux, accompanied by organist, Beth Hebert. Musical selections will include, "Amazing Grace", "Be Not Afraid", "The Old Rugged Cross", and "Precious Lord."
Mr. Hebert served in the United States Army National Guard for a number of years and was a recipient of the Marksmanship Medal. He was self-employed as an electrician and was the owner and operator of Hebert's Snowball and Hebert's U-Wash Carwash on Main Street in Breaux Bridge. He also worked for Gordy Salt Mine and L.A. Frey Sons, for a number of years. Upon retiring, he worked for Royal Pools for some time. "Uncle Joe," as he was better known to his family and friends, was always willing to lend a helping hand to family members and friends assisting them with any electrical or mechanical problems, repairs, and any other projects they may have had. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.
Survivors include his three sons, Larry Hebert and his wife, Brenda, of Kilgore, TX, Derrick Hebert, of Lafayette, and Greg Hebert and his wife, Lonnie, of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Sandra Bianchini and Susan Huval, both of Breaux Bridge; three brothers, James Hebert, Jack Hebert, both of Breaux Bridge, and Isaac Hebert, of Youngsville; three sisters, Belzire Gravouilla, Mary Rose "Rokie" Castille, and Jean Latiolais, all of Breaux Bridge; and six grandchildren, Chelsey Hebert, Drake Bianchini, Layne Huval, Baylee Huval, Maggie Hebert, and Delaney Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie M. Ewing Hebert; his parents, Edith and Joseph Hebert, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Julie V. Hebert; three brothers, John D., George, and Rufus Hebert; and two sisters, Lillian and Janet Jane Hebert.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited by Clifford Hebert at 6 p.m. on Friday evening.
Pallbearers will be Tony Hebert, Ritchey Hebert, Ryan Hebert, Rocky Hebert, Dale Lormand, and Drake Bianchini.
