Joseph 'Kite' Darius Jeansonne

Breaux Bridge A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm, on Friday, January 23, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joseph Darius "Kite" Jeansonne, 89, who passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:30 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 7:00 am until 1:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday. Rev. Greg Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Jeansonne was a veteran of World War II, honorably serving his country in the United States Navy and he was a member of the American Legion. Kite enjoyed going to the casino, fishing, gardening, attending the horse races, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his wife of 67 years, Josie Ann. He is survived by his loving wife, Josie Ann Theriot Jeansonne; two sons, Joseph Dean Jeansonne, Sr. of New Iberia, and John Dale Jeansonne of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Sue Alice Guidry and husband, Leland, Sr., and Louella Ann Simon and husband, Rodney, Sr., all of Lafayette; two brothers, Lin Berard and wife, Renata, of Breaux Bridge, and Charles Berard and wife, Jeanne, of Dahzell, South Carolina; his sister, Gloria Stoute of Breaux Bridge; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Celine Jeansonne; father, Vincent Mulate Berard; brothers, Joseph Berard, Patrick Castille, Percy Castille, Davis Castille, Fred Castille, Harry Castille, Maurice Castille, Andrew Castille, and Jimmy Castille; sisters, Shirley Barras, Emily Breaux, and Velma Breaux; his step-father, John Castille; and daughter-in-law, Florence Jeansonne. Pallbearers will be Rodney Simon, Jr., Joseph Jeansonne, Jr., John Keith Jeansonne, Jerry Guidry, Leland Guidry Jr., and Justin Penn. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Dean Jeansonne Sr. and John Dale Jeansonne.
