Breaux Bridge- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Joseph Jones, Sr., 73, who passed away March 3, 2023 in Texas.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
Joseph Charles Jones Sr. attended high school at Carver High school in Breaux Bridge, LA. He went on to attend Southern University for 2 yrs. He started working for Southern Pacific Railroad. He then met the love of his life Annie Mae Beverly and moved to Texas where he continued working for the railroad. Southern Pacific railroads was bought out by Union Pacific where he worked as a machine operator until he retired. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, watching sports, and watching old time western movies. His favorite football team was the Pittsburg Steelers.
He leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Joseph C. Jones Jr., Joel Hubbard (Regina), Robert Guidry (Tammy), and Willie Beverly (Diane); daughters, Judy Mixon(Alfred) and Cora Thomas; grandson/son, Samuel Guidry; godson, Nolton Blanchard; brothers, Gilbert Jones (Bettye) and Larry Jones; 17 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren;
two special cousins, Jeanette and Frank; Toya Gabriel, Fatelt Alsarde, and Terrell Fontenot who were special to him and like his own children; and one aunt, Lou Velma Abraham.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Jones; father, McAlvin Jones Sr; mother, Mable Dede Jones; brother, McAlvin Jones Jr.; sisters, Shirley Ann Barber and Audrey Mae Blanchard; stepchildren, Dallas Gudry Jr., Annie Mae Coleman, and Diane Citizen; aunts, Mary Abraham Derouselle and Milton & Dalton Abraham; grandparents, Rodney Abraham and Angelina Davis Abraham.
Active pallbearers Joel Hubbard, Samuel Guidry, Ronald Beverly, Clifton Citizens, Willie Beverly, Robert Guidry, Chandler Moore and Joseph Beverly.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph C. Jones, Jr. Nolton Blanchard, Kenneth Moore, Anthony Moore, Larry Jones, Douglas Garry, Anthony Citizen, Terrell Fontenot, Foteh Alsarde, and Gilbert Jones.
The family of Joseph C. Jones would like to thank everyone for the love and support shown to us through this time of loss of our loved one. All prayers and condolences have been greatly appreciated. May God continue to bless and every one of you.
