Leonville - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville for Joseph Whitby Lanclos, 90, who died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Doctors Hospital in Opelousas.
Interment will follow at St. Leo the Great Cemetery in Leonville.
Mr. Lanclos was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army and witnessed the signing of the Peace Treaty at Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Delafosse Lanclos of Leonville; three sons, Larry Lanclos, Sr. and his wife, Sandra of Leonville, Phillip Lanclos of Sunset, and Dwayne Lanclos and his wife, Marji of Euless, TX; two brothers, Royly Lanclos of Port Barre and Lee Lanclos of Bridge City, TX; one sister, Aniece L. Lalonde of Notleyville; two grandchildren, Cori Lyn Lanclos of Bedford, TX and Larry Lanclos, Jr. and his wife, Courtney of Lafayette; and two great grandchildren, Avery Lanclos and Gracey Lanclos of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Marie Mallet Lanclos; his brothers, Anoclet, Joshua and Bertrand Lanclos; and his sisters, Mable and Anna Lanclos.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at St. Leo the Great Church Hall from 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday and continue until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
