Joseph 'Frere' Nolan "Frere" Landry

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Joseph Nolan Landry, 83, who passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at his residence. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 12:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Garrett Savoie will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Glinda Landry and Ashley Courville. Gift Bearers will be Halie Landry and Brittni Courville. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Landry honorably served in the Louisiana Army National Guard from 1951 - 1954. Frere worked for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for 15 years as a certified outboard motor mechanic. He was a carpenter by trade and was known to be a man who could repair almost anything at home. As a pastime, he enjoyed fishing, crawfishing, and gardening. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson and served as an usher there for many years. Frere will be remembered for his love and affection to his family. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Landry and wife Linda, Kirby Landry and wife Lorraine, Harvey Landry and wife Tammy, and Horace Landry and wife Monica; daughters, Glinda Landry, Jannes Landry, and Darla Landry all of Breaux Bridge; and his grandchildren, Marcus Landry and spouse Suzanne, Timmy Landry and spouse Paige, Kristen Ballback and spouse Henry, Olivia Barber and spouse Stephen, Shelly Frederick and spouse Ross, Kirk Landry and spouse Jennifer, Kerrie Landry and boyfriend, Colby, Brittni Courville and boyfriend, Brandon, Scott Landry and spouse Crystal, Ashley Courville and boyfriend, Brody, Tiffani Courville and boyfriend, Sam, Keith Courville and girlfriend, Shayne, Kylie LeBlanc, Halie Landry, and Joshua Meche; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by wife, of 53 years, Marie Alvina Courville Landry; a son, Roger Dale Landry; and his parents, Joseph Nolan and Baziline Blanchard Landry.
