Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joseph Lewis, 82, who passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. James Fallon will officiate at the funeral Mass.
Mr. Lewis was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver and the True Friends of La Pointe.
Survivors include five sons, Clifton Lewis, Jerry (Barbara) Lewis, Gralin Williams, Joseph (Angela) Williams, and Paul Williams; four daughters, Judy Alexander, Paula (Harold) Breaux, Earlene (Clarence) Zenon, and Darlene (Ronald) Price; three brothers, Eugene (Shirley) Lewis, Leroy, Lewis, and Samuel (Mary Ella) Lewis, Sr.; five sisters, Bernice Alexander, Mary Harris, Teresa (Joseph) Wiltz, Rose (Lumas) Etienne, and Evelyn Lewis; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Batiste Lewis; parents, Eugene and Louise Alexander Lewis, Sr.; three brothers, Ernest Lewis, Sr., Paul Lewis, and Larry Lewis; two sisters, Verlie Alexander and Antonie Lewis; a grandson, Aaron Price; and a great grandson, Anthony Alexander.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family would like to give special thanks to his nephew, John Lewis, who was their Angel during their time of need. Your thoughtfulness and kindness will never be forgotten and you will always be in our prayers for everything you did for our father.
