Coteau - Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, June 1, 2015, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Joseph Loyd "Popa" Mouton , 69, who passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, in Coteau.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
Interment will be at a later date.
Mr. Mouton was born on April 8, 1946 in Kaplan to John Lovelace Mouton, Sr., and Beulah Boudreaux Mouton, and was a longtime area resident. A veteran of the National Guard, he worked in the oilfield for many years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and playing music. Mr. Mouton played music with "The Good Ole Boys".
Survivors include his wife, Jody Mouton of Coteau; sons, Joseph Loyd Mouton, Jr. of New Iberia, Coy Allen Mouton and wife Cheryl of Brevard, NC, and, Larry Heath James Mouton of Coteau; brothers, James Allen Mouton, I and wife Rosetta of Houston, TX, John Loveless Mouton, Jr. of Groesbeck, TX, and Michael Sim Mouton of Kaplan; sisters, Lorraina Ann Fredrick of Nunez, and Tammy Lynn Shockley of Nederland, TX; grandchildren, Brittney Viator and husband Cornelius of Coteau, Eric Drury of Greensboro, NC, and Lisa Maas and husband Jon of Montana; great-granddaughters, Raeligh Claire Viator, Emma Maas, and Abby Maas
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gladu and Elvige Boudreaux; a sister, Tina Marie Mouton; and a son, Theo Gene Mouton.
