Joseph William Pickney, Jr.

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joseph William Pickney, Jr., 65, who passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Deacon Lawrence Jacobs will conduct the funeral service. The reader will be Betty Jones. Joseph enjoyed working, camping and visiting with his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years, Virgie Derousselle Pickney, of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Jude Pickney and his wife, Brandi, and Tim Pickney, all of Breaux Bridge; four brothers, George Pickney and his wife, Deidra, Harold Pickney and his wife, Lillian, all of Port Arthur, TX, Junius Pickney and his wife, June, and Harrison Pickney and his wife, Helen, all of St. Martinville; one sister, Hilda Pickney; and a grandchild, Azania Pickney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Pickney, Sr. and Anna Savoy Pickney; and a son. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 a.m. His brothers and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Pellerin Funeral Home, 665 Dauterive St., Breaux Bridge, LA is in charge of arrangements.
