Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, March 7, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joseph Lester Theriot, Sr., 77, who passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Rev. Fr. Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass.
Mr. Theriot was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church where he served as an Usher for 20 years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a family man who was very involved with everyone in his family and all the activities in their lives. Lester enjoyed being outdoors, dancing, and he thoroughly enjoyed reading a good book. His most treasured moments were those spent with his loving wife of 57 years, and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Theriot, of Breaux Bridge; his four children Joseph "J.L." Theriot, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, of Breaux Bridge, Brenda Ann Thibodeaux and her husband, Floyd, of Houma, Paul Adam Theriot and his wife, Jenny, of St. Martinville, and Joel Lee Theriot, of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Harris Theriot and his wife, Marrella, of Breaux Bridge; two sisters, Mattie Simon and her husband, Jean, of St. Martinville, and Marie Guidry, of Breaux Bridge; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Odelia Theriot; his foster parents, who raised him, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Guidry; two brothers, Chester Theriot and Curtis Scott; and two sisters, Marie Babin and Gladys Guidry.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be his three sons, J. L., Paul, and Joel Theriot, Sam Boudreaux, Floyd Thibodeaux, and Adam Paul Theriot.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harris Theriot and Ryan Theriot.
